AC Biode Showcases Japanese Hydrogen Innovation at WORLD HYDROGEN SUMMIT & EXHIBITION 2026 in Rotterdam together with Aitoztech focused on the new Steam Pyrolyst.
Key Takeaway:
Rotterdam, Netherlands – May 21, 2026 – AC Biode, a Japan- and Europe-based clean technology company, participated as an exhibitor in the Japan Pavilion at the WORLD HYDROGEN SUMMIT & EXHIBITION 2026, one of the world’s largest hydrogen-focused trade shows, held in Rotterdam from May 19–21, 2026. The event welcomed more than 10,000 visitors from 120 countries and focused on “Climate, Energy and Security: Creating Hydrogen Demand to Address Global Priorities.”
Event and Japan Pavilion context
Organized with the support of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japan Pavilion highlighted 21 Japanese companies and organizations active across the hydrogen value chain, from production and transport to utilization and related enabling technologies. Exhibitors demonstrated how Japan is contributing to the realization of a global hydrogen society with advanced technologies that cover upstream to downstream segments of the hydrogen supply chain.

AC Biode exhibited alongside leading industrial and technology players, including Asahi Kasei Europe, IHI Europe, Sumitomo Electric Industries, NGK Europe, Toray Industries Europe, Toyota Motor Europe, Yokogawa Europe, NEDO, NEXI, JH2A and others in the hydrogen ecosystem. The Japan Pavilion drew strong interest from visitors seeking high-quality information on hydrogen projects and concrete business opportunities, with many exhibitors commenting on the high level of specialization and deal-focused atmosphere compared with other European energy events.

Highlights from the summit
Throughout the three-day program, the summit featured high-level keynote sessions, technical discussions and networking activities involving government officials, corporate leaders and experts from around the world. Keynote speakers included Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, who emphasized that green hydrogen will become a critical next-generation energy source and underlined the role of policy support in addressing energy security risks, including Tokyo’s plan to expand its fuel cell vehicle fleet from 150 to 5,000 units by 2030.

From the Japanese government side, Shinichi Kihara, Director-General for Energy Transformation Strategy at Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, stressed Japan’s commitment to building a robust, reliable global hydrogen supply chain in close collaboration with Europe. He highlighted that, supported by public funding, Japanese companies are steadily advancing implementation of low-carbon hydrogen production via water electrolysis and hydrogen use as a heat source in industrial processes, leveraging Japan’s strength as a “department store of technology” across the entire hydrogen value chain.

During the event, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Greece-based EcoLog announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding for strategic collaboration on a liquefied hydrogen supply chain to accelerate deliveries into the European market, underlining the momentum behind hydrogen infrastructure development.
AC Biode’s perspective
As an exhibitor in this environment, AC Biode used the opportunity to engage with international partners, project developers, investors and policymakers focused on scaling hydrogen technologies in Europe and beyond. By being present in the JETRO-organized Japan Pavilion at a high-profile industry platform dedicated entirely to hydrogen, AC Biode strengthened its position in the European hydrogen ecosystem and advanced discussions on collaborations that link Japanese innovation with global decarbonization needs.

The company views participation in WORLD HYDROGEN SUMMIT & EXHIBITION 2026 as a strategic step in its mission to develop and deploy technologies that enable a more circular, resilient and low-carbon energy system. Building on the relationships and insights gained in Rotterdam, AC Biode aims to further expand its partnerships across Europe, Japan and other regions ahead of the next edition of the summit, scheduled for May 18–20, 2027, again in Rotterdam.
