Tech4Good Spotlight: Plastalyst

AC Biode is excited to be featured in the Tech4Good Spotlight for our work at the intersection of chemistry, sustainability, and resilient supply chains. The interview and article shine a light on Plastalyst, and how this technology supports Ukraine’s circular economy in a time of rebuilding and renewal. This recognition echoes our commitment to scalable, energy-efficient recycling solutions that reduce waste, lower emissions, and create economic value from plastic streams.

AC Biode’s Role in Ukraine’s Circular Economy

  • Breakthrough at low temperature: Plastalyst enables polymer decomposition into chemicals at or below 200°C, a regime significantly milder than many traditional recycling methods. This enables energy-efficient processing and expands the range of plastics that can be chemically recycled.
  • Broad plastic compatibility: Plastalyst targets a wide spectrum of polymers, including challenging multilayer and deteriorated plastics, which are often considered unrecyclable by conventional means. This expands the potential feedstock pool and enhances circularity.
  • Towards a closed loop: By turning plastics back into monomers or high-value intermediates, Plastalyst supports the creation of a true circular economy where end-of-life plastics re-enter production streams rather than accumulating as waste.
The opportunity if all straw waste was recycled with Plastalyst is enormous.

What the Tech4Good Spotlight Covers

  • Recycled feedstocks for rebuilding: The Tech4Good feature highlights how our recycling technologies offer local, reliable feedstocks for manufacturing and construction in Ukraine, contributing to economic resilience and supply security during recovery efforts.
