December 17, 2024 – Madrid, Spain – In response to the devastating energy crisis
caused by massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure during the
ongoing war, Tech4Good held its first global initiative to seek innovative energy
solutions.

Tech4Good Global Challenge #1: Energy for Ukraine addresses the critical need for
sustainable energy solutions during Ukraine’s harsh winter months, as over 10
million people face widespread blackouts and severe power shortages.
From October 15 to November 15, 2024, startups, SMEs, and innovators worldwide
were invited to submit proposals via the http://www.f6s.com platform, a key network partner of
the initiative.
75 companies from across the globe responded, showcasing a range of creative
solutions to bolster energy resilience in Ukraine.
Following an extensive evaluation process and interviews, 7 projects have been
selected to feature in the official catalogue of energy innovations that could be
implemented in Ukraine.
The selected projects offer cutting-edge solutions tailored not only to Ukraine’s current
energy crisis but also with the potential for adaptation in other regions impacted by
conflicts or natural disasters:
- From Greece – BIO2CHP – Enables the use of raw residual biomass for on-site
and small-scale heat & power production, transforming waste into a valuable
commodity while decreasing energy and waste disposal costs.
https://www.bio2chp.com/ - From Iceland – Icewind – Robust micro vertical-axis wind turbines to power
communication towers, weather and seismic stations, emergency systems,
lighting, and on-grid and off-grid lodgings. All products are tested in Iceland, one
of the windiest places on Earth. https://icewind.is/ - From Ireland – GKinetic Energy Ltd – Simple, modular turbines that generate
clean, reliable energy from free-flowing water. https://gkinetic.com/ - From Italy – PhotonSolarSystems – A revolutionary device capable of
providing reliable energy in any condition, especially during natural disasters and
emergencies. https://www.photonsolarsystems.com/ - From Japan/Luxembourg – AC Biode – Onsite methane power generation
(together with SeaB Energy) & AC Biode Plastalyst – plastic and organic waste
catalytic decomposition into hydrogen and more. https://acbiode.com/ - From Spain – MY SOLAR PLANT by Xizan – A solar generator for
self-consumption at home and wherever you go. https://www.xizanenergy.com/ - From the UK – Olsights – A regional spatial energy planning toolkit to screen
good locations for matching energy supply with demand, integrating geothermal
& renewables potential, infrastructure, geography, and socio-economic indicators
for decision-making. https://olsights.com/
